Music Therapy

“Where words fail, music speaks.”

-Hans Christian Andersen

The sense of hearing is thought to be the last sense remaining until the final moments of life. The playing of familiar songs can provide the patient with a supportive and comforting environment. It can also provide many other benefits including socialization, reminiscence, emotional support, elevation of mood, relaxation, and relief from pain and anxiety.

“Music Therapy can assist hospice patients, families, and caregivers in coping with emotions and anticipatory grief that may occur during this difficult time. Music fills in the space where words alone cannot. It has the ability to soothe the soul but can also bring immense joy. I am very excited to be a part of the Serenity Hospice Team and offer this special service.” –
